Gogol Bordello!

Keri and I went to see these guys perform last night at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in downtown Providence. They are awesome! If you ever get a chance to see them perform go for it. Gypsy Punk is so much fun. The last gypsy punk show Keri and I saw was at Monterey Live where Fishtank Ensemble was performing.

In A Year’s Time

A week ago marked one full year for us here in Lil’ Rhody! It’s hard to believe that much time has gone by. We made it! I usually look at a one year milestone as a kind of confirmation of success for what the endeavor I’ve undertaken. I think this is especially true when it comes to a major life change like moving across country from everything you’ve known for 15 years. The first six months here were probably the roughest. Very few new friends, very little work, and then the onset of winter when we were confined to the one heated room of the house. That was probably the hardest part and the biggest source of doubt that we’d made the right decision in moving out here. In my mind anyway. To combat the doubt we only had to remind ourselves of that cramped little apartment on Del Monte.

Of course, it was the right decision. Continue reading →

Water of Life

A couple pics from the garden. Keri and I try to get over there every couple days to give it a good watering and to see if we can harvest anything. Yesterday we were able to harvest two yellow summer squash and a ton of basil. We used both in last night’s deep dish pizza. Yum!

David Gracer with a couple berries

We took a trip out to Seekonk, Mass on Friday with our friends David and Kim and their daughter Sonia to a strawberry farm. Awesome! Keri and I picked about 7 pounds worth that should last us a while. At home we prepped them all and froze a huge bag full. The rest went into a fresh batch of homemade strawberry ice cream! Woo! I’m almost wishing tomorrow will be a hot day. Here’s some more pics… Continue reading →

2:13 a.m.

Yep. I’m up. This is not unusual tho. Spent the day today working on the blog design, a tweak here and a tweak there, and also a new Twitter page background. There’s a nod to my favorite pub on there. I did all the web coding and uploads with a couple free programs…Cyberduck and Textwrangler. Both are handy little programs which I’ll most likely stick with instead of Dreamweaver since php doesn’t show up well in the DW design view anyway. I prefer testing directly in the browser.

Check out Keri’s new blog design as well.

In other news, the Celtics lost to the Lakers tonight so it’s now on to game 5 in the Finals. I swear people will go nuts here if the Celtics lose.

Also, in case you missed it, the new video of the week is up… Johnny Cash sings Get Rhythm!
